Installing a Travinger eSIM takes about a minute, and it’s best done at home on Wi-Fi before you travel. Here’s exactly how it works, from the email in your inbox to your first bars of signal abroad.
Before you start
You’ll need three things: an eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked phone, a Wi-Fi connection, and the confirmation email we send after checkout. That email contains your QR code and setup details โ keep it handy.
Install with a QR code (the easy way)
- Connect your phone to Wi-Fi.
- Open your phone’s mobile-data settings and choose Add eSIM or Add mobile plan.
- When prompted, scan the QR code from your Travinger email โ ideally displayed on a second screen so your camera can focus on it.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to finish adding the plan.
- Give the new line a clear label, like “Travinger,” so it’s easy to find later.
Install manually (if you can’t scan)
On the same “Add eSIM” screen, choose Enter details manually and type the SM-DP+ address and activation code printed in your confirmation email. It achieves exactly the same result as scanning.
Should I install before or after I travel?
Install before you leave, while you’re on Wi-Fi. Installing early is completely free โ your plan’s validity only starts counting when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you install it.
Turn it on when you land
When you arrive, set the Travinger line as your data line and switch on Data Roaming for it (this is safe and won’t trigger home-carrier fees). Within a moment you’ll be connected to a local network.
A couple of good habits
- Don’t delete the eSIM profile โ a QR code can only be scanned once.
- Keep Data Roaming switched off on your personal SIM so it never runs up charges.
